Having recently launched our 2018 Junior programme, we now want to draw attention to a range of events aimed at adults as well! This includes our new Safety Boat Skills training day, a 1-day RYA First Aid course, our Race Training day in July, and the "Women on the Water" event in August.

We are currently testing demand for our new 1-day Safety Boat Training. These training days will focus specifically on skills required to support club events at WWSC and will include boat handling, dinghy rescue & recovery skills. Participants do not have to have any previous experience or qualifications. They will be run by our new Chief Instructor, Chris Gorton, in small groups using Club boats (3 trainees per boat) and will be based at either Itchenor or Cobnor on six possible dates in May and June when tides are unsuitable for daytime sailing at WWSC.

To express interest please log into our website and go to "Book Online" and select "Training" where you will see all 6 days. Alternatively click here. Please only book on one of the 6 days which should be your 1st choice of date; but also indicate in the Box on the booking form which other dates you could also attend if there are not sufficient numbers to run events on all 6 days.

Our RYA First Aid Course on July 21st is already almost full but even if you cannot get on this time please add your name to the waiting list by booking and we will arrange another Course if there is demand. Click here to go to the event. This is a very useful course which is highly relevant to anyone taking part in water sports and the Club is offering it at a very competitive price.

Racing is really the best way to improve your sailing skills but if you haven't done it before, or even if you have, it can be a bit daunting. So on July 14th we are running a Race Training day specifically to encourage more members to race and hopefully move on to join in Regatta Week - which for many is the highlight of our sailing season.

And on August 10th several of our growing team of female instructors, joined by several women sailors from in the Club will be running "Women on the Water". The objective is to get as many women and girls from our membership as possible out on the water to enjoy a completely informal fun and learning experience.

More details will be available on both of these 2 summer events in due course but if you have any ideas for them or feel you could help us run them, please let us know. Just get in touch with Ivan Western, our Vice Commodore.
