A "Greyt" Start!

Bosun Mark Lynch with Adrian Edwards and Kevan Watkins as crew launched Wittering Grey for her maiden voyage this week. Her brand new engine needs to be "run in" for 10 hours before the RIB will be ready for active duty. Mark Lynch describes progress:

"So far she's done 6 hours on trips to Northney Marina and Itchenor SC where, as you can see, her crew were fed and watered.

"The trip back from Northney was eventful. We were the only boat in the harbour except for one poor soul who was on a 30ft yacht and waving to us frantically having gone aground on the Winner Bank on the outgoing tide.

"We explained that on restricted revs we were unlikely to be able to pull him off however we contacted the Harbour Conservancy and a RIB with blue flashing light was soon on the scene to pull our friend to safety. So Grey's first impromptu provision of assistance to a boat in trouble has already happened! Let's hope we won't be rescuing any WWSC sailors off the Winner Bank."
