2022 Prizegiving and Winners List
Published 14:46 on 10 Nov 2022
Club Trophies, many dating back over the Club's 72 year history, are awarded to event winners and they get to keep them for a year. Winners are also presented with one of our special "WWSC branded" glass tumblers or mugs as a permanent memento. We also present these mementos to those who were runners-up with the numbers rewarded dependent on the scale of turn-out in each particular event.
After the formal business of our 2022 AGM was over, long term member and past Club Secretary Bridget Wright presented the prizes. To see the 2022 prizegiving slides please click here or scroll to the bottom of the page. If you just want the complete list of winners, you can download it here.
The Keeley Shield
The culmination of the Prizegiving is always the award of the Keeley Shield for achievement. The winner is traditionally decided by the Club's Sailing Team and is kept a closely guarded secret until the Prizegiving.
Roger Mavity revealed that this year it was being awarded to Roger Bird in recognition of his many achievements, acting as a role model to so many. Roger has helmed many different boats but is now best known for being a most devoted and committed member of the WWSC Scow fleet. Despite advancing years, Roger has always been one of the first to put to sea in challenging conditions and still gets his fair share of success. Off the water Roger and his wife Valerie have regularly organised the Club croquet event held during Regatta Week.
Many congratulations to Roger!
