Supper Cruises to Hayling

Stephen Carter writes:

We had another splendid dinner at Hayling Island on Wednesday last week (June 28).

20 people came - the forecast was for a 20kt wind which put some sailors off but in the end it was a pleasant F3 and we had 3 members' boats plus 3 RIB's - Mark Lynch, Ivan Western and Tony Gillon all kindly offered to drive them.

We had 2 Cobles - The Swayne family came in Snowgoose and Anita and I plus guests were 4 up in Wreckless. Tom Richardson also came in Pelican. Sadly the wind was on the nose on the way over so those that did sail were a little later than those who arrived on the RIB's.

Their club once again looked after us beautifully. The food was prompt and excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. For those who have not been, the club house is substantial with a large bar and restaurant area and breathtaking views of the harbour.

We departed at 20:30, half an hour after high water and had a lovely run back. The only incident was David Swayne's engine cutting out - Tom valiantly rescued him and towed him to his mooring and the problem - a pinched fuel line - swiftly sorted.

I look forward to seeing you at the next (and last) trip this season which is on Wednesday 12th July and let's see some more owners take their boats - our little flotilla makes a great sight to behold! Numbers are limited so book now!
