Sunday Sail Clinics (formerly Oppie & Topper Club)
Following a fantastic year on the water, we're excited to welcome our young sailors back for Junior Sail Clinics.
Junior Sail Clinics are fun, skills-focused sailing sessions designed to build confidence, technique and enjoyment on the water. Sessions combine structured coaching with games, challenges and plenty of time sailing with friends. With many new sailors joining in recent seasons, the clinics are designed to support sailors at different stages, while keeping the sessions inclusive, enjoyable and progressive.
Clinics are delivered in two parallel groups, allowing sailors to train at an appropriate level while remaining part of the same overall programme.
Coaching Groups
Group 1: Skills & Experience Building (Optimists / SailQubes)
- Suitable for sailors who have completed RYA Stage 2
- Focus on building confidence, independence and core sailing skills
- Sessions help prepare sailors for summer activities such as Junior Week
Group 2: Progression & Race Skills (Toppers / Fevas)
- For sailors looking to take the next step in their sailing
- Focus on performance, race-related skills and sailing confidently in a group
- Each clinic has a different skills focus, so regular attendance is encouraged, but not required
Volunteering We Need Your Help!
- Rescue Boat Crew: Parent volunteers are essential to help on the rescue boats. Please sign up for a duty via the online Club Roster.
- Not a Drop-and-Run Session: Parents of young sailors must stay to help their children with rigging and launching before leaving. As with all WWSC junior events, parents must be available to return to the creek within 20 minutes if needed.
Need a Club Dinghy?
- If you need to rent a Club SailQube, Topper or Feva, you'll need to book this separately (we recommend doing this first!). To book a club dinghy you need to have had a club induction and have signed the waiver form.
- Rental is a private arrangement, so approval is required before booking.
Dates and Booking Information
Junior Sail Clinics run on the following Sundays. Each date is booked individually. Bookings Open at 9am on Saturday the 21st of March.
- Sunday Sail Clinic 1 - Sunday 17th May
- Sunday Sail Clinic 2 - Sunday 31st May
- Sunday Sail Clinic 3 - Sunday 14th June
- Sunday Sail Clinic 4 - Sunday 28th June
- Sunday Sail Clinic 5 - Sunday 5th July
