Our 6 SailQubes are now here and, subject to availability, daily rental can now be requested using the "Book Online" button on the website just like our Fevas. A robust and lightweight version of the Optimist these boats are perfect for teaching youngsters too light to sail a Topper how to sail. Ben Ainslie, indeed most of the GB Olympic sailing team started their careers in this type of boat and we hope many WWSC members will benefit from them over the coming years. Once you have done a short, shore-based induction on how to rig and look after the boats, you can log in and request to use a SailQube here. More info about the renting scheme can be read here.

The 6 SailQubes were purchased by WWSC with the help of additional financial contributions from several families who in return have 'first call' on the boats. Two further SailQubes have been purchased privately. WWSC will have use of the club owned SailQubes for its Junior Training Programme including the 'after school' sessions which we will be running for children at the village school. We have now also introduced a process – similar to the one which operates for the Club Fevas - to enable these boats to be used by other members. Many thanks to Finn Western and Anna Turner who helped unpack, set up and label the new boats.

The SailQubes came with high marks from several other Harbour clubs and so far we've been impressed with their quality. Will Becker who has done much to arrange the funding of the boats by liaising with contributing parents commented that "they're really solid, not too heavy and well thought out. I can see why they came recommended. I think our kids are going to love using them."

One issue which may arise with the SailQubes is making headway against the ebb tide back up into the Creek in light winds. As harbour users, we all owe a duty to assist each other so please look out in case sailors in any boats need some assistance on this last leg - especially if you are in a boat with a motor (e.g. a Club Rib returning from racing duties).
