Easter Egg Series Report
Published 01:00 on 18 Apr 2024
After the cancellation of the practice session on Good Friday due to high wind, things weren't looking too promising. However, despite this and it still being March the 2024 Easter Egg Series was sailed in beautiful, sunny sailing conditions over 3 days with winds between 9 and 15 knots on each day.
Despite the fact that a few of the Harbour Marks had yet to be laid (requiring some hasty last minute changes to the courses!), the racing was very close and competitive over the short courses with each of the 6 races lasting about 30 to 40 minutes.
The overall results were only decided in the very last race with Isla Edward coming out of the top step of the podium, followed by Jolyon Western and Chris Gorton. It was very encouraging to see 3 different classes filling the top 3 spots.
Thanks to Adrian Edwards, Peter McKerchar and Ivan Western for running the racing and to the team of WWSC instructors - George Benda, Finn Carter, Jacques Huet, Luke Hill-Norton, Finn Western, Jemima Firmstone, Tabitha Smith, Olivia Wade, Tom Wade, Anna Wade - who all volunteered their help.
