Junior Week 2020 UPDATE
Junior Week 2020 is on!
After trialling some events under the Club's Covid policy and Government guidance we are delighted to announce we will be running Junior week 2020 over a slightly longer 8-day period from the 18th to the 25th of July. It will be led once again by our Senior Instructor Chris Gorton.
The Government's recent relaxation of lockdown rules are welcome but it is still not possible to run a completely normal program. In particular, the limitation of any activity on land to 6 individuals makes our normal sailing much more complicated to organise and our onshore social activities impossible. However, we will run sailing that fits within the limit of six on land with younger sailors active in the first 4 days of the week (July 18-21) and our older (Topper age and above) sailors out on the water over the second half (22-25 July). In addition, we are doing some contingency planning for a social programme in case there is any late relaxation of rules that would allow it to go ahead. Booking opened on July 10 and almost all places have been taken see the relevant web pages: Part 1 and Part 2.
Just a reminder: Junior Week is not suitable for beginners - to take part you must already be able to rig your boat, launch it and sail to East Head and back unaided in moderate conditions. At this particular time, this rule is even more important as instructors are not permitted to provide "close-in" support - unless it is an emergency. With an anticipated high level of demand for a limited number of places, we do ask parents to respect this rule. If in doubt contact the Juniors Team.
