After School Sailing 2021
West Wittering Sailing Club has always been a Club for local families but were amazed to discover that many local children had never enjoyed getting out on the water that is right on the school's doorstep. So in 2018 we started working with West Wittering School to provide local children with the opportunity to try out sailing by visiting the Club after school on summer days when the tides are suitable. For some this may lead on to their families deciding to join the Club but whether or not this happens, we feel all children benefit from experiencing the delights of Snowhill Creek and Chichester Harbour.
After a gap in 2020 due to the restrictions imposed to deal with the pandemic, we have recommenced these After School Sailing sessions this year. The requirements to fit in with the tide times and not to interfere with schooling mean that we will only be running two of these 2-day sessions this summer:
- Thursday/Friday on June 17/18 starting at 15:45pm, and
- Wednesday/Thursday on June 30/July 1 starting at 15:45pm
These events are open to any child attending West Wittering School. The Club will provide the boats, buoyancy aids, RYA accredited instructors and safety boats. Each of the events (i.e. 2 afternoons of sailing) will cost just £25. We are aiming at children with little or no prior sailing experience and so the events will only go ahead if weather conditions are suitable. For this reason we will only bill parents after the event has taken place.
All parents should have been contacted by WW School on how to book. If you have any questions please email us at Secretary.WWSC@outlook.com.
