After School Sailing 2025
West Wittering Sailing Club has always been a club for local families, but we were surprised to learn that many local children had never had the chance to experience sailing on the stunning waters of Chichester Harbour - right on their school's doorstep!
So in 2018, we partnered with West Wittering School to give children the opportunity to try sailing by visiting the Club after school on summer days when the tides are suitable.
For some, this first taste of sailing may inspire their families to join the Club, but whether or not that happens, we believe every child benefits from the experience of exploring Snowhill Creek and Chichester Harbour - developing confidence, new skills, and a deeper connection with the water. We look forward to continuing this initiative and welcoming more young sailors to the harbour!
The requirements to fit in with the tide times and not to interfere with schooling have led to us identifying 2 sessions, each comprising 3 afternoons of sailing:
- After School Sailing-1 (Tuesday June 17 th Thursday June 19th)
- After School Sailing-2 (Tuesday July 1 st to Thursday July 3rd)
These events are open to any child attending West Wittering School. The Club will provide the boats, buoyancy aids, RYA accredited instructors and safety boats. We are aiming at children with little or no prior sailing experience and so the events will only go ahead if weather conditions are suitable.
