On the World Stage: WWSC Juniors Head to 420 Worlds
Published 14:50 on 5 May 2026
We're very excited to share that a number of our older junior sailors and instructors have been putting in serious hours on the water over the winter season, travelling to inland venues for qualifying events alongside competing at the Youth Nationals at Hayling Island Sailing Club. Following a strong run of results, Apolline Depaepe, Lilly Cox, Layla Shaer and Hugo Tyers have now qualified to represent their fleets at the 420 World Championships, taking place this summer in Biscarrosse, France. The regatta is one of the most competitive youth sailing events globally, bringing together top 420 crews from across the world for a full week of racing from qualification series through to finals often in demanding sea breeze conditions.
If you spot them in the boat park over the coming months, they'll be deep in training mode and hopefully sporting some of the new WWSC merch while they're at it!
We wish them the very best of luck and most importantly, a brilliant experience on the world stage.
