The Big Bathe : 6th September

The Big Bathe returns this September
The Hall family would like to invite West Wittering Sailing Club members, their families and friends, to participate in the fourth charity swim, The Big Bathe, on Sunday 6th September 2026 from 07.00 am at West Wittering beach.
All proceeds from the swim are in aid of Bowel Cancer UK and St. Wilfrid's Hospice.
The Big Bathe was Victoria Hall's idea. When she found out her bowel cancer was terminal in 2022, she came up with the idea of the swim and was able to escape from hospital to be there.
The inaugural Big Bathe took place in July 2022 with many members of WWSC there on the day to swim or supporting and integral to its success. Together, we have now organised three swims, raising more than £220,000.
Victoria's family and friends are organising the third swim in her honour - to have fun and to help raise money and awareness for these two causes.
There are two options: a 750m or 1.5km swim. The 1.5km swim starts at 07.00 am. For those looking to participate, you can join here. Alternatively, if you can't swim, or can't make it but would like to donate, the team fundraising page is here. Pre-registration is mandatory and closes in early September, or, when spots are full.
Bowel Cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer and is increasingly being diagnosed at an advanced stage at a young age. The good news is that if caught early, it can often be treated.
All swimmers and their families will be invited for refreshments in the car park cafe afterwards. A raffle will also be taking place. For further information or questions, please contact Valerie Hall (you can do this via the online Members' Directory or through the Club).
Many members have already signed up to swim and others are volunteering on the day. If you would like to help that weekend, please contact bigbathehq@gmail.com.
Thank you for your support
