Higgs Handicap.
The 'Higgs' is the big race at WWSC; named after the founder of our club it's our most popular race and always attracts a big fleet.
The Higgs is a Pursuit Race which starts and finishes at East Head. The slowest boats start first and the fastest last; and unlike an ordinary handicap race, the first boat home is the winner. With boats converging on the finish line at East Head the race provides an exciting grandstand finish for spectators a few minutes before noon.
The course is not particularly challenging so we encourage as many members as possible to give it a go.
Prizes are awarded on the day at East Head for the first five finishers as well as various class prizes for Toppers, Lasers and Junior Helms.
Please do come down and support the event even if you are not racing, and pack an extra sandwich in your picnic for some hungry sailors who will appreciate your support!
