Our 2022 Programme

After much work by the entire team, your Committee is pleased to unveil our most ambitious programme for many years and which is now accessible via the Calendar on this website. It contains all the old favourites plus some new events that have been inspired by the valuable feedback we received in last year's end-of-season Members' Survey.

To make life simpler we have divided the events into 8 colour-coded categories as displayed in the Table below. The same approach will be followed in our printed Club Handbook. You can select any of these categories via the "filter" at the top of our online Calendar and you can get more information on each event by clicking on it. Where appropriate, you will also find links which will allow you to book the event online (although please be aware that bookings for many events won't open until early April). We will be setting up the Roster duties over the next week or so and will let you know when it's time for volunteering!

Our first social event is a charity Family Race Night at the Memorial Hall on Saturday March 12. Just click on the link to book.

Description

Social Events for all

Aimed at all our members whether or not they sail, these include parties, suppers, and relaxed evenings on Snowhill Green to name just a few.

Social Sailing

We have added more events for those who don't necessarily want to race but do enjoy sailing in company. As well as 3 Women-on-the-Water events, we've 6 evening sails and a new double-hander try-out day in a members' or a Club boat.

Points Races

Our Early and Late Series plus the classic 5-day Regatta Week. These are run in 2 fleets and will generally feature 1 race per tide with an interesting course around Harbour marks.

Trophy Races

Races for our Club Trophies. These are a mix of normal handicap races and pursuits and are run as a single or multiple fleets depending on the Trophy.

Sprint Races

3 very short (20m) races run in quick succession around a specially set Triangle-Sausage-Triangle course. Great for honing race technique. We will use long start lines to maximise space and encourage all boats Fast & Slow to take part.

Training (aimed at adults)

We are offering a 3-day RYA course for complete beginners plus 5 Rusty Sailors events for those with some experience but looking for instructor support. We also have powerboat training and refresher sessions and informal events with member-to-member support

Junior Sailing (all types)

For simplicity we have grouped all our well-loved junior offerings under this one heading: Junior Week (for all those who have reached the required competence), two 3-day RYA Training events, 10 Oppie & Topper Club days for improvers and our After School sessions for children at WW School.

Member-run cruises

Although these are run completely separately from WWSC, we continue to publicise the dates when our cruising members hope to enjoy either a lunchtime trip to a Harbour watering hole or a full days excursion further afield. For more info look here.
