West Wittering Sailing Club Handicaps for 2010 Season

Handicap Policy

• Primary - are Portsmouth Numbers published by the RYA and well attested by many clubs over several years.

• Secondary - are Portsmouth Numbers published by the RYA but not as consistently attested as Primary Yardsticks.

• Recommended - are Portsmouth Numbers published by the RYA on the basis of limited information.

• WWSC - are Portsmouth Numbers allocated by WWSC using the method described in the RYA PORTSMOUTH YARDSTICK SCHEME 2007.

The policy is that Primary and Secondary Portsmouth Numbers will be used.  Recommended numbers will be used unless there are significant anomalies from the WWSC calculated number and that this number has been calculated from a reasonable number of races and participants.  Where there is no publish Portsmouth Numbers number in the current year the WWSC number will be used.

The WWSC numbers are calculated using the results from 2005 through to 2009.  Where the only results used in the calculation are from a single boat / crew then, at the discretion of the handicapper, an allowance may be made to take account of the skill of the crew.
