Handicap Racing

Although there are a few level racing events in the Racing Programme the majority of races are sailed on a handicap basis using the RYA Portsmouth Yardstick Scheme.

The club’s policy is to use the Portsmouth Yardstick Number listed on the above web site and the club will follow the advice given with regards to adjusting these numbers. Where a boat belongs to a class that is not shown in the lists on this site the club will allocate it a PY Number. Club allocated PY Numbers will be calculated using the methods described on the the above web site.

The PY Numbers to be used from the middle of July 2011, until further notice, can be found here. This document contains an analysis of the results achieved by each boat for the last three years.
